Gujarat Tourism plans to give a facelift to Dwarka

The Gujarat tourism department plans to renovate and make infrastructural changes to the temple town of Dwarka. It plans to set up a dormitory, a paved walkway, renovation of temples, parks and fountains, and development of the Gopi Talav Lake, according to a report in The Times of India.

To facilitate tourists and pilgrims visiting the main Krishna temple, the tourism department has decided to ban entry of all vehicles on the 200 metre path leading to the main temple. Also, the walls along the road will have numerous paintings depicting scenes from Krishna Leela. The tourism department has planned a paved walkway in Dwarka and a separate area for tourists. Besides this, the town will have an entrance gate displaying all 10 incarnations of Lord Vishnu. For devotees who do not wish to spend the night in Dwarka, the department is planning to set up a dormitory along with locker facility. Loudspeakers will be put up along the walkway to ensure all the pilgrims enjoy Krishna bhajans.

The Suryanarayan temple and the Gomtighat will also be renovated. Gomtighat will be developed on the lines of Haridwar; the stairs of the ghat will be broadened and a special structure will be constructed for performing poojas at the ghat.

A tourism department official said the area near the Suryanarayan temple will be given a facelift with fountains and gardens. The area will be developed as a sea facing garden and will also have toy trains and water sports in the second phase of development.

The tourism department has decided to divert traffic 100 meters from the Rukshamani Temple. The area between the main road and the Ruskshamani temple will be developed for tourists. It will also come up with parking facilities, gardens and other public utility areas.

The lake behind the Shiv temple in Nageshwar will be also be developed. The area will have better public utility areas and adequate parking facilities. Also, the area near the temple will be paved. The development of the Gopi Talav Lake will be taken up in two phases. In the first phase, the tourism department will make room for parking facilities and build an entrance gate for the area. The areas will also have shops and a cafeteria. In the second phase, the lake itself will be renovated.

For developing the Shivrajpur beach, the tourism department, in the first phase of the development project, wants to build a changing room, a cafeteria and public utility facilities. In the second phase, the department will ensure there is proper infrastructure that will make the place suitable for Beach Tourism.
